Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and its suburbs on Monday, recording more than 100 mm of rain in the past 24 hours. The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and Thane today, indicating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in isolated locations.

Amid a yellow alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, the Santacruz Observatory recorded 109.7 mm of rain and the Colaba Meteorological Station recorded 102.4 mm of rain in the last 24 hours.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has forecast another day of heavy rain in the city, along with extremely heavy rain in the isolated pockets.

And the BMC logger showed that between 8 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday, the maximum rainfall was recorded in the western suburbs (91.47 mm), followed by the eastern suburbs (85.10 mm) and the Gezira city subdivision (88.24 mm).
