Paide B36 hosts Kadrioru Staadion in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League qualifying round on Thursday (20 July).

B36 coach Dan Brimsvik was unhappy with the support his team received at home in the first leg. Only about 600 fans were present at the 5,000-seat Gundadalur Stadium in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. He said that the lack of cheering and pushing could be the reason for their poor performance against Paide (0-0).

Paide caught himself and made sure that he left Tórshavn unharmed. They were able to disrupt the B36’s smooth midfield by cutting off the supply to the flanks without bothering to score goals themselves. In the second leg, the Estonian side will be looking for goals to win the tie, which could create chances for the visitors.

B36 is on a mission to claim what they failed to achieve at home, but this could be a difficult task. Coach Bremsvik is likely to maintain his fine structure in midfield, but the likes of Andras Johansen and Valrigis Sabala could fall a little behind from attacking to defensive midfield positions.

The pair were a thorn in the flesh of Paide’s defence, but a similar strategy in the second leg would leave plenty of space behind. Towards the end of the first half, B36 seemed to lose steam and were on the receiving end of attacks from Paide, which they survived but might not be so lucky away from home.

Paide vs. predicted B36

Paide’s main weakness this season in the Estonian Premier League is his lack of goals, which is rearing its ugly head in European competition. They need to address that as they welcome B36 to a decisive showdown.

Bjarki Nielsen and Valerijs Sabala are under pressure to deliver the B36. Both players are the team’s top scorers in the Faroe Islands Premier League with six goals each.

Expect Paide to come out on top due to his better form and home advantage.
