with Opposition parties are scheduled to meet in Bengaluru for the second consecutive day To strategize the Lok Sabha polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attacked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for choosing to attend the event over staying in Delhi recovering from floods.
Describing him as a “part-time” prime minister, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva accused Kejriwal of turning his back on the national capital when it was most needed. “Delhi is struggling with floodsThousands are forced to sleep on the streets. Today, when Delhi is in need of leadership, its Prime Minister has arrived in Bengaluru for political tourism,” Sachdeva claimed.
Pointing out problems such as post-flood health issues that may appear in affected areas, Sachdeva said Kejriwal should have chosen to be of service to children at risk of disease instead. He added, “But he chose Bengaluru over these kids in order to hide his corruption… Delhi needs a full-time CM, not a part-time CM like himself.”
The BJP accused the Aam Aadmi party government of siphoning off funds earmarked for cleaning up the Yamuna River and the city’s main drains and sewers. Because of the lowering of the river, some of the water seeping into the streets has receded, but not without posing a risk of spreading vector-borne diseases.
Senior leaders of as many as 26 parties, including the AAP and Congress, are gathering in Karnataka to forge a common front against the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
