Although many college football players from last season have left for the NFL. However, the college world is never short of talent.

With new recruits graduating from high school and countless others returning for another season, another exciting and action-packed season should unfold in 2023. More than others, some players have more to prove in the upcoming season.

Let’s take a closer look at five players who have the most to show for when the college football season gets underway in just a few weeks.

Top five college football players who have proven themselves the most in 2023

#5, Trevion Henderson

After a great new season in 2021 with Ohio State Buckeyes, Trevion Henderson was inactive most of last season due to injury. Now entering his junior season, he has a lot to prove in bolstering his stock.

Henderson rushed for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2021 and should have such performances next season. Notably, he will play the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback after CJ Stroud’s exit.

#4, Tyler Davis, Clemson DL

Tyler Davis is approaching what could be his final season in college football, and all eyes will be on him. He has been the defensive tackle with the Clemson Tigers since 2019 and has become a respected captain on the team.

After earning first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors in his last two college football seasons, Davis would again strike for another touchdown. After a surprise return to the program for another season, it’s a huge boost for Dabo Swinney’s team.

#3, Mykel Williams, Georgia DL

After a fresh off season with the Georgia Bulldogs, Mykel Williams is facing pressure to maintain his form for the upcoming season. This at a time when Georgia lost a huge crop of starters last season on defense to the NFL.

Williams will play a big role next season leading the Georgia defensive line as the team aims to secure its third straight national championship. He showed he was worth the hype in recruitment last season and should maintain his pace in 2023.

#2, Travis Hunter, Colorado WR/DB

Travis Hunter is one of the players who followed Deon Sanders All the way from Jackson State to Colorado. With all eyes on the program after an overhaul via the transfer portal, Hunter is one player the Buffaloes will be counting on.

Hunter had a great first season as Jackson State showed off his versatility on offense and defense. However, this is the first season for former five-star FBS recruits. There’s a lot he has to prove after making the previously shocking decision to commit to the FCS program.

#1, Queen Eyores, Texas QB

After what was considered a disappointing season with the Longhorns last year, Ewers has to prove he’s worth the recruiting hype this season. The former five-star recruit transferred to Texas from Ohio State in 2022 and was named the starting quarterback.

Ewers threw for 2,177 yards and 15 touchdowns last season. With high expectations in Texans this season, Ewers should be on top of his form to make something big and boost his stock at the same time.
