The Bachchans – one of the most iconic families in Bollywood – like no other Indian family – fight and stare, teasing each other. Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan and her daughter Shweta Bachchan once revealed how they fight with each other, why Abhishek Bachchan never has problems at home and how Amitabh Bachchan wants everyone’s attention in the house all the time.
During the second season of Koffee With Karan, Shweta and Jaya came together for an episode. When Karan asks them if mother and daughter fight with each other, a hesitant Jaya says first, “We don’t fight, we get angry”. Shweta interrupted, “Mom, we are fighting. Don’t sugarcoat it.” Jaya added, “We’re checking phones.” Shweta again hurried to correct her mother, “You ring the phones. If I hit the phone, she will call me and say, ‘You are much younger than me, how can you knock the phone on me’ and then she will ring the phone.”
So, are the men of the Bachchan house more subdued? “Not at all,” Jaya shared adding, “Abhishek talks non-stop. He has an opinion on everything.” Shweta revealed that her brother “froths” people and avoids getting into trouble by agreeing with his parents’ opinion.
“He’s so smooth. He froths everyone the right way. I’m the one who gets into trouble because I have an opinion on everything. When he’s sitting with his mom, he’s like, ‘You’re right, Mom.’ And when he’s with his dad, he’s like, ‘You’re a daddy.’ Right.” It’s not offensive. “Jumping whenever appropriate,” Shweta said.
Jaya further agreed that the men in her house are “attention-seeking”. She said, “The older child gets more attention than anyone else.” When asked about the “eldest child”, actress Jodi confirmed that it is her husband and actor Amitabh Bachchan, as Shweta agreed with her.
Jaya Bachchan will soon appear in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The movie marks her return to the silver screen after a long time. She was last seen in a cameo appearance in Ki and Ka with her husband, Amitabh Bachchan. The film stars Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi.
