An official said Tuesday that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has damaged a poultry farm in Madhya Pradesh state that is allegedly being used by members of the ‘Sofa’ terrorist group inspired by the Islamic State group.

A spokesperson for the Federal Anti-Terrorism Agency said, Imran Khan’s property in Golaniya village in Ratlam district was attached under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in connection with a plot to commit terrorist acts in Rajasthan.

The official said that the poultry farm was exploited by SOFA members to radicalize new cadres and train them to make explosive devices.

On September 22 last year, the National Intelligence Agency submitted an indictment against Khan and 10 other suspects. Explosives and components used in making improvised explosive devices were seized. The NIA said the case was registered against the newly formed domestic terrorist group, Sofa, in April 2022 in connection with an alleged plot to carry out terrorist acts in Rajasthan.

The spokesman said that the investigations revealed that “Sofa” was strongly inspired by the activities of the global terrorist organization ISIS and tended to “jihadist ideology”. The official said that “Sofa’s members encouraged other youth from the area to join the group to commit acts of terrorism.”
