Poppy, the shop’s owner, told CNN-News18 that the scheme was introduced to help people avoid long lines at banks.

A shopkeeper in Delhi has devised a unique scheme to help people use 2,000 rupee notes to shop instead of standing in long lines at banks to return the notes. Customers can shop for 2,100 rupees worth of items using a 2,000 rupees note at a textile store in New Delhi’s Rohini area.

To take advantage of the scheme and avoid the hassle of going to the bank to return the 2,000 rupee note, people gather in large groups at the store.

Copy Gallery store owner Bobby told CNN-News18 that the scheme was introduced to help people avoid long lines at banks. As soon as the offer was announced, customers in droves began to visit the store.

Copy Gallery is located at D-12, Shop No. 223 in Rohini Sector 7. This store remains open seven days a week from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM when the offer can be availed. The nearest metro station to the store is Rohit West.
