Dominik Mysterio opened up about winning the NXT North American Title in an exclusive digital interview with WWE. He was accompanied by Rhea Ripley.
Dom faced Wes Lee for the North American Championship on the final episode of NXT. Although Lee seemed mostly dominant, Doom emerged victorious with some help from his Doomsday teammates. Finn Balor and Damien Priest failed in their attempts to distract Lee, but Mamie hit the champion with her world women’s title, resulting in a pinfall victory for Dom.
After the match, WWE tweeted a digital-only exclusive interview where Dominic Mysterio and Rhea Ripley can be seen talking about their first-ever singles title win.
Rhea Ripley started the interview, insisting that Dom has already outgrown his father, Rey Mysterio.
“Though, it’s not going to end there. No though. It’s just a congratulation that you’re talking to greatness here. You’re talking to my Latino heat, Dirty Dom himself. He’s already outgrown his father, tired my dad and will continue to grow and grow and grow.” And he’ll take over that job because it’s part of Judgment Day and Judgment Day, we run all of WWE,” said Ripley. Dominic thanked Rhea Ripley and said she was right. He also stated that he is undefeated in brand development, and looks like he will stay that way because Judgment Day is on his side.
“Thank you, Mami! You know you’re definitely right about all of that. Now that I can actually talk and not interrupt you with a combo of deadlifts and energies, or whatever there is. You know I’m the new NXT North American Champion and now that I’m thinking of Thing is, I’m 2-0 here in NXT. Your son, Dirty Dom is undefeated and it looks like with The Judgment Day and Mami by my side, it looks like he’s going to stay that way. Mami let’s go,” said Dominic. (0:41 to 1:11)
It remains to be seen how Dominic will fare under his reign and how Lee will respond to the loss. It looks like Mysterio will need to defend his title at the upcoming Great American Bash.
