A box containing “drone material”, a gun case, a live cartridge, “white pills”, fake Adar cards and other documents. These are some of the main items that were allegedly recovered from the two men who were arrested on Tuesday in the ‘bike theft’ case before being found on the ‘wanted’ list of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Pune Police. He told the local court.
The police filed a separate case against the two men who were identified as Muhammad Imran Muhammad Yusuf Khan (23) and Muhammad Yunus Muhammad Yaqub Saki (24) from Ratlam, Nab. Police described them as “graphic designers” who were staying in a flat in Chetna Park in the Mita Nagar district of Kondhwa.
On Wednesday afternoon, Chief Inspector of Police Hemant Patil of Kothrud Police Station presented the two accused before Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) A.C. Birajdar and requested police custody for eight days.
“Investigation is underway as to whether the accused committed acts of vandalism while staying in Pune for the past year and a half,” Patil told the court, which later returned the two men to police custody until July 25.
According to the police, an FIR was filed at Kothrud Center against the accused and their fugitive assistant Mohammad Shahnawaz Shavuriman Alam (31) of Hazaribagh, Jharkhand under Articles 468, 379, 511 and 34 of the Iraqi Penal Code, and those under the Weapons Act. and Maharashtra Police Act.
In court, Patel also listed an electronic weighing machine and thermometer among the items recovered from a search of their home. The drone itself was not found.
Citing the NIA v. Defendants case, which involved the recovery of explosives from Rajasthan linked to an ISIS-inspired outfit in Parliament, Patel told the court that an investigation was needed to find out whether the accused had hidden the drone — and what they did. Planned to do with the other material captured.
The officer also told the court that while a gun bag and cartridge were found, the gun was not. He said the white grain content also needs to be checked.
Patel said: “The content found in the laptop and mobile phones seized from the defendants and their call data records need to be investigated.”
Assistant Public Prosecutor Renuka Deshpande Kargatkar told the court that as a matter of national security, questioning of the accused in custody was necessary, given the recovery, their past record and the tracing of their fugitive assistant. Defense lawyers Yispal Purohit and Saurabh Mor opposed the petition.
