Brock Bowers was the main man in Kirby Smart at the end of past seasons. His contributions helped the Georgia Bulldogs to back-to-back national championship runs. But the 20-year-old may be ready to play his final season in Georgia. According to several accounts, he is projected to be an early pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Two years after putting up Kyle Bates at #4, Powers is described as “the highest rated tight end ever drafted”. Powers was highly rated as a prospect sought by several colleges. He eventually committed to Georgia because of his relationship with Bulldogs coach Todd Hartley.

Brock Powers’ impact was immediate. He was expected to compete to play with Darnell Washington and Eric Gilbert at tight end. But Washington’s broken foot and Gilbert’s withdrawal from the team meant that he became Smart’s primary choice in charge.
At 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, Bauer has become a terror to defensemen in the Southeastern Conference, balancing his offensive prowess with his blocking ability.
At the end of his freshman season, he had amassed 56 receptions, 882 yards, and 13 touchdowns. He also had four rushing attempts for 56 yards and a TD. He was named the SEC Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-SEC first team and All-American second team.
His position as a tight end for Georgia was solidified by his sophomore season. He had another great season that convinced any skeptic that his first season was no fluke.
He concluded his sophomore season with 63 receptions for 942 yards and seven touchdowns. His rushing stats were also better than what he had in his freshman season: nine runs for 109 yards and three touchdowns. He made the first team All-American and first team All-SEC and was awarded the John Mackey Award for the best tight end in the country.
Brock Bowers would be the joy of any NFL team, and hardly any coach could pass up the opportunity to have his talent on their roster.
However, he could decide to return for another year of college football after this season and thus delay the NFL Draft. In the unlikely event that happens, fans will have to wait another year until 2025 to see where Powers ends up in the Pros.
