The government’s decision comes after the Quiramband Emma Kethil Joint Coordinating Committee, which represents women in the main market in Imphal town, appealed to everyone to make the ‘Mothers’ Protest’ march a success.
The Manipur government has rescinded the easing of the daily curfew in the five districts of the valley from 5 am to 6 pm and imposed a complete curfew in light of the mass gathering on Wednesday.
The government’s decision comes after the Quiramband Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace Emma Kethell, who represents women in the main market in Imphal town, appealed to everyone to make the ‘Mothers Protest’ march a success.
The co-coordinator of the committee, K. Dinchori, urged all mothers in each locality to go out of their homes between 11 am and 1 pm and raise slogans calling for the rejection of separate management, the implementation of the NRC and the immediate call for an emergency assembly session.
She also appealed to everyone to support the protest against the continuing violence in the state.
Security has also been stepped up in the capital, Imphal.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated development, police have arrested 30 people for their alleged involvement in the attack on IGP (Area 2) K Kabib and his escort on Monday night at Kwakeithel in Imphal West district where his car was torched.
