Sarajevo hosts Torpedo Kutaisi at the Asim Ferhatovic Haas Olympic Stadium on Thursday (20 July) in the second leg of the first qualifying round of the European Conference League.
The encounter came to a head after the two teams played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in Georgia last week. Kutaisi took the lead twice but fell back several times.
Nika Sandokhadze opened the scoring for Kutaisi in the 43rd minute, but Renan Oliveira equalized for the visitors two minutes into the second half. Irakli Pogiridze cut short their celebrations and restored Kutaisi’s lead a minute later. But in three more minutes, Dal Varisanović joined Sarajevo by making it 2-2.
Kutaisi is in the middle of the 2023 season in the Erovnuli Liga, which did not go well, as it is in sixth place with 24 points from 19 matches.
Before qualifying for the Europa League, the Georgian team also participated in the Georgian Super Cup. They lost in the semi-final against Dinamo Batumi on penalties but beat Dila in the same way in the third place match.
Meanwhile, Sarajevo played two club friendlies last month and won both of them. They beat Petrolul 5-0 in their first match before beating Shkendija 2-0.
