Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Sambla on Tuesday resigned as chair of the National Scheduled Caste Committee (NCSC) and is likely to be given organizational responsibility in the Saffron Party in the run-up to next year’s Lok Sabha elections.
I resigned for personal reasons. There is no other reason. There are many things that I have not been able to do while following protocol as Chairman of the National Committee on Sports Security. “I can now perform my personal duties effectively,” Sambla said. Asked if he could be assigned any major responsibility for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Sambla told reporters, “I am a soldier of the party. I will serve the party wherever it is requested.”
Multiple BJP sources said Sambla was asked by senior officers of the party to resign from the post of Chairman of the National Securities Board, a position he has held since 2021.
The 62-year-old Sampla from Hoshiarpur is also likely to be fielded in the 2024 LS polls. In 2014, Sampla was the first BJP Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha.
