Jon Rahm is the one golfer who has been associated with LIV Golf for the longest time. However, the world No. 3 seed appears to have remained on the PGA Tour. The Spaniard, who has been critical of both sides in the past, reportedly offered 400 million to join the Saudi-backed series.
Ram wins the 2023 Masters Tournament and is once again a hot spot in golf. But, even before his big win, the Spaniard was on LIV’s short list. According to several sources, the 28-year-old golfer turned down the offer from the rebel side and decided to take part in the PGA Tour. Later, he declared that he was grateful for the platform that the American circuit gave him.
The golfer virtually opened himself up ahead of the 2023 US Open at Los Angeles Country Club last month. Speaking in light of the sudden deal of the alliance with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, Ram thanked Al-Jawla for his support. The golfer seemed happy to be on the American circuit even though many of his friends had moved over to the other side.
Expressing his gratitude to the PGA, John Rahm, as reported by CBS, said:
“No matter what happens, whether I agree with it or not, thanks to the PGA Tour, they are giving me a platform to play golf at the highest level, and after taking advantage of that possibility, I am in a position where my family and my kids don’t have to struggle financially at all, and they don’t I know how many generations I can help if I do it right.”
The golfer further emphasized the point that he is fortunate to be playing golf at the highest level and added that it “doesn’t really matter” if the PGA Tour aligns with LIV Golf or not.

“I’m very privileged in this world. I can do whatever I want. I can do whatever I like for a living. I enjoy every day even though I get crazy on the golf course now and then… I just — I’m going to have to adapt to the situation and I’m going to have to make some decisions about what’s going on in the future, and I’m going to make some decisions.”
“At the end of the day, I’m still very lucky, whether or not the PGA Tour (and) LIV Golf are compatible or who plays and who likes whom. It doesn’t really matter.”
John Rahm was compensated by the PGA Tour for his loyalty
On Tuesday, John Rahm commented on the possibility of him receiving compensation from the PGA Tour for his loyalty. The Masters champion said he didn’t think he should get a reward for it. However, the Spaniard added that he would “not say no” to receiving the extra money.
John Ramm said in a press conference ahead of the Open Championship:
“It was my choice to stay. Do I think they should be and there should be compensation? No, I only stayed because I think it’s the best option for myself and the golfer I want to play. Now, though, if they wanted to do it, I wouldn’t say no.”

It is notable that Jon Rahm’s comments supportive of the Tour came just days after he criticized it for its lack of transparency in the PGA Tour-PIF merger deal.
