Police said that in the initial investigation, it appeared to be an accident, however, the possibility of suicide cannot be ruled out.

Police said an army jean was found dead on a railway track near Ambala Canton railway station on Thursday with his arm and leg cut off and his head crushed.

According to the police, the dead soldier has been identified as British Yadav, who is a resident of Nathkhida village in Rai Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. He was appointed as a captain in the army in Ambala Canton.

Police said that in the initial investigation, it appeared to be an accident, however, the possibility of suicide cannot be ruled out.

State railway police said the accident appeared to have occurred late Wednesday night when the soldier was crossing the track and was hit by a train.

Police said the left arm, shoulder and left leg were found severed and his head and chest crushed by the train.

His identity was confirmed by a diary found in his pocket. No railway ticket was found with him.

GRP station official Dharamveer Singh said the railway police control room got information about the accident in the morning.

The police sent the soldier’s body to the civilian hospital for an autopsy and informed his relatives.
