When Shannon Sharpe first walked away from FS1, many expected him to soon find something new. With his outrageous personality, he is adored by many who follow the morning sports talk shows.
Amid recent reports, there might be something new just around the corner from Sharp. He will likely join ESPN as the new co-host of Stephen A. Smith in “First Take”.

As most people know, ESPN has gone through some changes as well. Last month, news broke that the network had dropped more than 20 on-air personalities. Among those let go are Jalen Rose, Jeff Van Gundy, and Max Kellerman.
Following these layoffs, there are new opportunities available at ESPN. Part of the reason for making the cuts was to open up room for new characters, but it’s not every day that a free agent like this comes along.
Would Shannon Sharpe fit in well alongside Stephen A. Smith on ESPN?
Needless to say, Shannon Sharpe would be a perfect fit for ESPN and First Take. He and Stephen A. Smith are both great personalities, which could make for some great TV.
Besides being personality wise, Shapre is also good for ESPN from a professional standpoint. Stephen A. Smith has been covering the NBA for years now, and Chabri is a former NFL star. If he were to get on board, it would provide their flagship offering two experts in the biggest sport in the country today.
The initial feeling might be that two such alpha personalities would not be able to coexist, but that is not the case here. Smith and Sharpe are two professionals who have a lot of respect for each other. This isn’t to say that there won’t be dust, but they will probably have a much better relationship than he and Skip Bayless.
Shortly after this report was published, fans have already started giving their thoughts on the potential addition. Some feel their pairing would be similar to that copy print and Shaquille O’Neal at the Los Angeles Lakers.
With Sharpe’s departure from FS1 happening at the same time as major changes at ESPN, it seems like the perfect timing for the two sides to come together.
