Eddie Nketiah has said he is very close to new Arsenal signing Declan Rice, as the pair played together at Chelsea’s academy between the ages of nine to 14.

Arsenal signed Rice from West Ham United for £105m this summer. The Englishman is reaching his position as one of the best players in the Premier League.

Speaking about Rice and his knowledge of the defensive midfielder’s family, Naqtia said (via The Boot Room):

“Obviously we played together from nine to fourteen, so we had that really strong relationship and that kind of foundation. I’m obviously close to his family; he’s close to me. It’s obviously good that he’s back in the team. We’re obviously really happy here to have him.” With us “.

Naqtia added that his past relationship with Rice could help cement their on-field relationship:

“It helps to have that part of the relationship with him, so, I hope he remembers how I love the passes that I played. It’s good to have him, and I’m sure he’ll be a really good addition and really help us this season.”

With Granit Xhaka gone and Thomas Partey on the verge of a move to Saudi Arabia, Rice is expected to play a key role for the Gunners next season.

Meanwhile, Nketiah brilliantly deputized Gabriel Jesus when the Brazilian spent much of the previous season on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury during the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Point scored nine goals and provided three assists in 39 matches across competitions. The 24-year-old could play a key role for Mikel Arteta’s side next season as well.

Arsenal getting ready to play MLS All-Stars

Arsenal are set to play the MLS All-Stars in a pre-season match on Wednesday (July 19). They recently beat the All-Stars 6-5 in a skill challenge. Austin Trosti gave his team the win by hitting the crossbar from 40 yards out.

The Gunners previously played MLS All-Stars in 2016, who won 2-1 with the likes of Kaká, Didier Drogba, and Andrea Pirlo. After Joel Campbell gave Arsene Wenger’s side the lead, Drogba equalized for the All Stars.

However, Chuba Akpom scored the last-minute winner for Arsenal. Fans will hope for another captivating encounter.
