Lionel Messi has already proven he’s a team player at his new club, Inter Miami, as the Argentine forward surprised his teammate in the players’ group chat by offering a timely help with tickets to his show on Sunday.
Even heavy rain couldn’t spoil Messi’s reception last weekend in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where the new face of Major League Soccer (MLS) was introduced to a stadium full of adoring fans.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winners’ new teammates didn’t want to miss the action either, and striker Leonardo Campana turned to Inter’s WhatsApp group for backup passes.
“On Sunday, Campana was looking for tickets and got into a group chat if anyone had any,” Inter Milan defender DeAndre Yedlin told reporters.
“I didn’t even know if Messi was in the group chat or not, but he immediately showed up and said, ‘How many more do you need though?'” Immediately like this.
From there I was like, “Woah! “You know what I mean. As straight as it is, maybe they’ve known each other for three days or something. But to show that generosity is a great new example of how (Messi) can be.”
A crowd of around 20,000 fans waited after delays due to torrential rain and lightning to see Messi presented with his number 10 shirt, before his family joined him on the pitch as they posed for pictures as fireworks lit up the sky.
