The official of the Daulatabad Police Station said the child, identified as Kartik Gaikwad, had a fight with a classmate over a trivial problem of sitting on July 6, and was beaten by four others, during which he suffered cuts in the stomach.
An 11-year-old student in class 5 of a school in Aurangabad in Maharashtra state died after being beaten by his classmates, a police official said on Thursday.
The official of the Daulatabad Police Station said the child, identified as Kartik Gaikwad, had a fight with a classmate over a trivial problem of sitting on July 6, and was beaten by four others, during which he sustained cuts in the stomach.
“He recounted the incident to his parents on July 10, who took him to a doctor in the nearby village of Abd Mandi the next day. He died on July 13 while he was being treated at the government medical college and hospital here.”
A case was registered on Wednesday under sections of the Indian Penal Code for causing negligent death and other offences, he said, adding that further investigation into the matter is underway.
