Heavy rains continued to lash Mumbai, with the city’s maximum rainfall recorded in the low digits of less than 100 mm as the 24-hour cycle of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) ended on Thursday morning.
IMD mentioned in its latest bulletin that heavy rains will continue while there is also the possibility of heavy rains reaching speeds of 50-60 km/h. At present, Mumbai is witnessing very cloudy skies with heavy rains.
As of 8.30am on Thursday, the Santacruze Observatory recorded 99mm of rain, while the Coastal Observatory in Colaba recorded 85mm of rain. Rainfall between 64.5mm and 115.5mm is categorized by IMD as heavy rain, and the heavy rains that Mumbai experienced in the last 24 hours qualifies for this category.

For Palghar, Thane and Raigad districts, the orange alert continues as heavy to very heavy rains are expected to continue.
Meanwhile, Tulsi Lake, one of the seven lakes that supply water to Mumbai, overflowed on Thursday morning after filling to capacity. This lake is located in the eastern suburbs and is famous for supplying non-potable water to Mumbai.
