MP Singh appeared six times before the Special Deputy Court of Anti-Money Laundering Act Judge Harjit Singh Jaspal for the hearing today. The court heard the arguments and held its order for announcement at 4 p.m. today.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Ross Avenue Court in Delhi granted a two-day provisional bail release to Singh and his co-accused Vinod Tomar – former assistant foreign secretary of WFI – and directed both to post bail bonds of Rs 25,000.

Delhi Police had filed a six-time indictment against the MP on June 15 under sections 354 (assault or criminal force upon a woman with intent to offend her modesty), 354a (sexual harassment), 354d (stalking) and 506 (criminal intimidation). ) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Tomar has been charged with offenses under articles 109 of the Islamic Penal Code (incitement to any crime, if the act incited is committed as a consequence, and where there is no express penalty provision), 354, 354a and 506 (criminal intimidation). Besides the current case involving six female wrestlers, another FIR was registered against Singh pursuant to allegations made by the young wrestler, which was registered under the Child Sexual Offenses Protection Act. She was among the seven female wrestlers who accused Singh of sexual harassment.

Both reports of information reported several alleged cases of sexual harassment such as inappropriate touching, groping, stalking, and intimidation by Singh at different times and places over a decade. The young wrestler’s father later claimed that the allegations made against the deputy were “false” and intended to bargain with him over the girl’s perceived injustice.

In the case of the minor, the court on July 4 requested a response from the girl and the complainant to the final report filed by the Delhi Police to dismiss the case against Singh. The Delhi Police had on June 15 filed the report demanding the annulment of the FIR filed in connection with the sexual harassment allegations against Singh.

An annulment report is given in cases where the police fail to find corroborating evidence after due investigation. The issue of female wrestlers has been taken up by decorated wrestlers such as Olympic medalists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik, and Asian Games champion Vinesh Phogat. The celebrity wrestlers’ protest was supported by a range of opposition parties and farmers’ organisations.
