At a graduation ceremony at Srikrishna Devaraya University in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh Bharathi walked with her husband and daughter to receive her Ph.D. in chemistry.

In the remote village of Nagulaguddam, located in the heart of Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district, a remarkable story of determination and passion unfolds. Meet Bharati, a woman of extraordinary spirit, who has defied all odds to make her dreams come true. Despite limited resources and financial constraints, she pursued her education with unwavering dedication and made a tremendous achievement by completing her Ph.D. in Chemistry.

Bharathi’s journey began in a small government school in Chinganamala, where she embarked on her lifelong quest for knowledge. Born into a family of financial difficulties, she was the eldest of three daughters. As per fate, she was married to her maternal uncle Shivprasad at a young age. Despite the hardships she faced, her husband became a pillar of support, encouraging her to pursue her passion for education.

Balancing her academic pursuits with day-to-day work, Bharati completed her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at SSBN College, Anantapur. Besides her studies, she was lovingly caring for her daughter, Gayatri. Bharathi’s journey embodied the essence of education, driven by passion and perseverance.

The path to education was not easy for Paraty. The college she attended is 28 kilometers away from her home village, which makes transportation costs prohibitive. However, this indomitable spirit did not let obstacles stand in its way. Every day, she would walk eight kilometers to reach Jarladine, where she could catch the bus to college. Her dedication and flexibility know no bounds.

Despite facing financial constraints, Bharati’s thirst for knowledge was inexhaustible. She studied late at night, determined to excel in her studies. Her husband and teachers remained her loyal supporters, guiding her towards her dream of obtaining a doctorate.

Under the guidance of Prof. Dr MCS Shubha, Bharathi delved into her research on “binary mixtures”. Her passion for her work extended beyond critical considerations; She was motivated by her love of the subject and the promise of a university-wide job upon completion of her Ph.D. Bharati knew that her accomplishments would serve as a beacon of inspiration to countless individuals, encouraging them to pursue their own paths towards success.

As the day of her graduation ceremony approaches, Bharthi feels content and joyful. Accompanied by her husband and daughter, she took to the podium at Srikrishna Devaraya University in Anantapur to receive her PhD in Chemistry. In a simple sari and paragon sandals, she symbolized the embodiment of perseverance and determination.
