The National University of Forensic Sciences is set to establish its new campus in Panchkula. A meeting was held on Thursday, where President of Haryana Vidhan Sabha Gyan Chand Gupta and Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal discussed the allotment of land for the university campus with senior officials of the state government.
Home Minister TVSN Prasad, Director General of Police PK Agrawal, Haryana Urban Development Authority Chief Department Ajit Balaji Joshi, Deputy Panchkula Dr. Priyanka Soni, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sachin Gupta and various other officials attended the meeting.
“Home Minister informed TVSN Prasad that he is in constant contact with the Union Home Affairs Ministry and Vice-Chancellor for the establishment of the National University of Forensic Sciences campus located in Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat, in Panchkula,” a state government spokesperson said.
The project will require 50 acres of land for the university campus. The spokesperson added that in the interim period, a temporary space of 50,000 sq ft would be required to start classes, and a team led by Deputy Commissioner Dr Priyanka Soni was formed to select a suitable site. This team consisted of officers from the Home Ministry and Haryana Urban Development Authority, along with Panchkula DCP and Joint Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation. The spokesperson said several potential locations, including Sector 26 Polytechnic, NIFT, Agro Mall, Saket Hospital, and several community centers, are being considered for this purpose.
Stating that in the past nine years, there has been a significant growth of large-scale enterprises in Panchkula, Sachin Gupta said that such establishments “contributed to enhancing the reputation of the city, and the strong infrastructure has paved the way for more such prestigious establishments”.
“The new campus of the National University of Forensic Sciences will create job opportunities for the youth and will benefit Panchkula as well as the entire district,” added Gupta, who also represents the Panchkula constituency.
