Authorities on Saturday assessed the nerve breach repair work at Sidhani village within the Chandpura Bridge (Haryana) boundaries.

The Sanitation Department and the army are in full swing at filling the gap in the Ghajar belt.

Budhlada MLA Budh Ram, Faridkot Range Commissioner Chander Gaind and Mansa Deputy Commissioner Rishipal Singh reviewed the ongoing dam repair work in Siddhani village and issued orders to army personnel and drainage department to expedite the work.

Although Chandpura Bridge is located in Haryana, it is maintained by the Punjab government.

The information revealed that out of the total 180 ft wide breach at this point, 70 ft were blocked due to the flood condition in the villages starting to improve. Bod Ram indicated that relief work teams have been formed in the villages, and he himself supervises them.

Chander Gaynd said, “The neighboring villages have been affected due to the breach of the 180-foot-wide band of Ghaghar River in Chandpura. The department is providing the necessary machinery, soil, cardboard and other equipment for bridge repair work.”

“About 70 feet of the 180-foot gap near Chandpura has been filled and the entire gap will be filled soon,” said Rishipal Singh. He added that the district administration is providing all the necessary assistance for the repair work of the dam.

In Sadwala village, he said, the water level has receded giving people much-needed relief.

Rishipal Singh said 500 people in Sardulgarh sub-division and 290 people in Pudlada have been shifted to relief camps. Ten camps were set up in Sardulgarh and 11 in Podlada. There are a total of 246 animals in Sardulgarh camp and 30 in Budlada.

Similarly, there are nine medical teams in Sardulgarh and two rapid response teams. There are 13 medical teams and 2 rapid response teams in Podlada. The Deputy Commissioner said that ten veterinary teams have been dispatched in Sardulgarh and four in Pudlada.

Deputy Commissioner of Bathinda Shaukat Ahmed Barai, SDM Pudlada Pramod Singla, Assistant Commissioner (G) Harjinder Singh Jasal, Chairman of District Planning Board Charanjit Singh Akanwali, XEN Drainage Saroop Singh, BDPO Sukhwinder Singh, Army and Civil Administration officials were present.
