Officials said on Saturday that the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed to vehicular traffic due to the throwing of many stones.

Officials said on Saturday that the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed to vehicular traffic due to the throwing of many stones.

“Traffic has been stopped on NH-44 due to stone-throwing at Mahad and severe slippery condition on the road in Dulwas. People are advised not to travel without confirmation from TCUs,” Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police said.

Traffic police said clearance work is underway.

The Jammu Srinagar National Highway is the lifeblood of the Kashmir Valley and the main road connecting Kashmir to the rest of the country.

Kashmir is tied up as trucks carrying essential supplies and other vehicles pass through the highway and trucks carrying fruits from Kashmir head to the rest of the country via this road.
