Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took to Twitter to address the situation and said that 45 people were stranded due to floods in Anandnagar village in Mahagaon taluka.

At least 45 people remained trapped in floods triggered by torrential rains in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra state on Saturday, even as rescue operations are in full swing.

Two Indian Air Force helicopters were deployed to conduct the operation and airlift the stranded people at Mahagaon Taluka.

Defense Pro Nagpur WG Cdr Ratnakar Singh said in a statement that a Mi-17 V5 helicopter is being flown in from Nagpur to evacuate people stranded by floods in Yavatmal.

Apart from this, a rescue team from the Government Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is on its way to assist in the relief efforts.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took to Twitter to address the situation and said that 45 people were stranded due to floods in Anandnagar village in Mahagaon taluka.

“Two Indian Air Force helicopters will soon reach Nagpur and from there they will depart for Mahagaon to rescue the stranded villagers. Mahagaon taluka has recorded 231 mm of rain.”

Houses were submerged and roads were completely flooded as it showed no signs of stopping in several parts of the district since Friday night due to heavy rain.

So far, all the people from the affected areas have been shifted to safer places and the situation is under control in the city, said collector Amol Yedge.
