A Dalit man has alleged that his face and body were smeared with human excrement by a man from another caste after the former accidentally touched him with fat in Chhattarpur district of Madhya Pradesh.

A police official said on Saturday that the accused had been detained based on the complaint.

Recently, the incident of a man urinating on a tribal youth in the Sidihi neighborhood with a parliamentary presidency caused great anger after the video appeared on social media.

A case has been registered against accused Ramkripal Patel, who belongs to the OBC community, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, in connection with the Chhattarpur incident, a police officer told PTI on Saturday night.

He added that the victim, Dishrath Ahirwar, approached the police on Saturday.

Ahirwar alleged that the accident occurred when he was working on the construction of a water drain for the panchayat in Bikura village, about 35 kilometers from the district headquarters of Chhattarpur, on Friday.

He said the accused, Ramkripal Patil, was taking a bath in a nearby hand pump.

Ahirwar claimed that he accidentally touched the tallow he was using for construction work.

“Subsequently, Patel brought human feces nearby in a cup he was using for bathing and smeared my body including head and face,” he claimed while speaking to reporters near Maharajpur police station.

He claimed that Patel abused him on the caste line.

I informed the panchayat and called a meeting. Instead, the panchayats fined me 600 rupees on Friday,” Ahirwar claimed.

When asked why he did not file a complaint with the police on Friday, Ahirwar claimed he could not have given up the business halfway.

“A case is being registered against Ramkripal Patil under Sections 294 (Punishment for Indecent Acts or Speeches in Public Places) and 506 (Criminal Intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act,” said Manmohan Singh Bagel, Sub-Police Officer (SDOP).

Baghel said that when Ahirwar was working with others, they would joke around with Patel who was taking a shower nearby.

“They were throwing things at each other playfully when Ahirwar put grease on Patel’s hand. After that, Patil picked up human excrement with his hand and threw it on Ahirwar’s back.”

Baghel said Ahirwar approached the police on Saturday with a complaint.

Asked about Ahirwar’s claim on the Panchayat, Bagel said he did not have any information.

The police said that the accused and the victim are in the age range of 40 to 45 years.
