On Wednesday, 16 people died and 11 others were injured due to electrocution at the STP station located on the banks of the Alaknanda River.

Police on Saturday arrested three people in connection with the electrocution incident at Namami Ganj sewage treatment plant in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.

Chamoli Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dupal said in a press conference here that Engineer Hardvalal Arya, Mahendra Singh, who is in charge of the electricity department and Pawan Chamula, the local supervisor of the company operating the water treatment plant, have been arrested for gross negligence in operating the electrical equipment at the plant.
