The National Security Adviser stressed the need for collective efforts to deal with the challenges arising from cybersecurity
National Security Adviser Ajit Doval participated in the BRICS Friends meeting in Johannesburg, where the issue of cyber security was discussed at length. In addition to the BRICS group, the other BRICS friends that participated are Belarus, Burundi, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kazakhstan and Cuba.
The NSA has highlighted the need for collective efforts to deal with the challenges arising from cybersecurity. The Global South in particular needs to overcome resource constraints. In this endeavour, he said, India will always be at the forefront of working closely with the Global South.
Duvall emphasized that the severity of cyber risks will increase exponentially with the advent of disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things.
It also highlighted the links between cybercriminals and terrorists including the use of cyberspace for financing, money laundering, extremism, lone wolf attacks, recruitment and secure communications.
He said that the younger population is particularly vulnerable to the spread of extremist ideologies through the use of social networking sites because they are tech-savvy and have vulnerable minds.
The NSA also held several bilateral meetings with its counterparts from the BRICS countries and friends of the BRICS countries.
