Edgartown: previous president Barack Obama character chef Drowning near the family’s home on Martha’s Vineyard.

Massachusetts State Police confirmed that the skier whose body was recovered from the Edgartown Great Pond on Monday was… Tafary Campbell45, from Dumfries, Virginia.
Campbell was working for the Obamas and was visiting Martha’s Vineyard. The Obamas were not home at the time of the accident.

In a statement, the former president and his wife, Michelle Obama, called Campbell “a beloved part of our family.”
“When we first met him, he was a talented White House chef—creative and passionate about food, and his ability to bring people together,” said the couple. “In the years that followed, we got to know him as a very warm, interesting, kind person who made our lives just a little bit brighter.”
That is why, when we were preparing to leave the White House, we asked Tafari to stay with us, and he generously agreed. He has been a part of our lives ever since, and our hearts are broken because he is gone.”
The search for the missing paddleboard began Sunday after reports from a fellow paddleboarder that it had struggled to the surface, ebbed and never resurfaced.
The search stopped late Sunday, but state police said on Monday that a sonar device from a boat found the body about 100 feet (30 metres) from the shore and at a depth of about eight feet (2.4 metres). Police said Campbell was not wearing a life jacket.
Obama said Campbell was survived by his wife and their twin children.
