The Prince William County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that the snake was in an electrical panel at the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Sudley Manor Drive and caused a power outage on Monday.

The Prince William County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that the snake was in an electrical panel at the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Sudley Manor Drive and caused a power outage on Monday. Authorities said a police officer and an animal control officer worked together to remove the snake from the painting and release it unharmed into the area.
Officials told the media that the snake was so large that it flipped a breaker switch that shut off the signal, but did not damage anything inside the box. It is believed that the snake was living in the box for a while because of the molten skin inside.
When traffic lights don’t work because of a power outage, police say they treat intersections like stop signs.
