According to the survey, nearly 70 percent of doctors and medical professionals said homosexuality was a disorder, and nearly 83 percent said it “confirms the transmission of sexual diseases in same-sex relationships.”

Homosexuality is a “disorder” and the legalization of same-sex marriage in the country will increase “confirmed transmission of sexual diseases” between partners, according to a survey by Samwardhini Nyas, an affiliate of the women’s wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He said.

The survey findings are based on 318 responses collected from practitioners of eight different healing modalities from modern science to ayurveda, a senior staff member at Rashtra Sevika Samiti which parallels RSS.

According to the survey, nearly 70 percent of doctors and medical professionals said homosexuality is a disorder, and 83 percent said it “confirms the transmission of sexual diseases in same-sex relationships,” according to the news agency. PTI He said.

“From the survey, it was noted that the decision to legalize such marriages may promote more unrest in society rather than treating patients and returning life to normal,” the RSS said.

She further highlighted that “counseling is the best treatment option for patients with such a mental disorder”.

The poll recommended that public opinion should be sought before taking any decision regarding the request to legalize same-sex marriage.

The subsidiary, Rashtra Sivika Samiti, added that “more than 67 per cent of doctors in their response to the survey questionnaire felt that gay parents could not raise their children properly.”

The survey was conducted by Samwardhini Nyas against the backdrop of a five-judge Constitution Panel, chaired by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, to hear arguments on a range of suits seeking legal sanction for same-sex marriage.”

“More than 57 percent of the doctors who responded to the survey, did not approve of the Supreme Court’s intervention in the matter,” said a senior official at Samwardhini Nias Hospital.
