Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the first-of-its-kind Heritage Center for the Indian Air Force here Monday, officials said.

The center was established under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Federation Territory of Chandigarh and the IAF that was signed last year.

The occasion was attended by Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh Panwarilal Purohit, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary and Chandigarh Member of Parliament Kirron Kher.

The Indian Air Force chief visited the Indian Air Force Heritage Center last month to review progress.

Spread over an area of ​​17,000 square feet, this is the first heritage center of the Indian Air Force and depicts its role in various wars, including in 1965, 1971, Kargil War and Balakot Air Raid through murals and memorabilia.

Officials said its exhibits will inspire future generations and show the indomitable spirit of the Indian Air Force.
