Security forces are already on high alert and preparation has been fully activated in the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Bhatta Durian in which five soldiers were killed on April 20.

Security forces launched cordon and search operation (Kasso) Wednesday morning following the movement of “suspected persons” in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch town, sources said.

They said that some local residents noticed suspicious movements of some militants in Poonch town. The sources added that two schools in the town were also closed.

Based on the information, they said, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Khakha Nawan, Purani Poonch, Jirnali Mohalla of Poonch.

The operation was ongoing when the last reports came in from the area.

Security forces are also conducting Operation Trinetra in the border area adjacent to the Kandy forests of Rajouri state after five paratroopers were killed in an explosion triggered by the Kasu organization last Friday.
