Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sokho said the state government is taking stringent measures to prevent youths from falling prey to drug abuse.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sokho said the government of Himachal Pradesh will put in place a policy to combat addiction and rehabilitate drug-addicted youth.

At a meeting where a draft policy was discussed, the chief minister said that the life of the younger generation is limited to mobile phones, which has led them to take drugs, according to a statement issued in Shimla.

He said the state government is taking strict measures to prevent youths from falling prey to drug abuse and a state of the art addiction and rehabilitation center will be set up in the state with the support of the National Institute. Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) to achieve this goal.

He directed the concerned officers to determine the approximate land of the center, and said that this center will operate with the aim of providing vocational training for inmates as well as getting rid of drug addiction. It will reinforce their lost confidence and guide them to progress in life.

He said that the focus will also be on linking them with the family and society to enable these people to return to their normal lives.
