The Executive Committee of FOSWAC (Federation of Sectors Welfare Association of Chandigarh) Sunday extended the term of its President Baljinder Singh Bitoo by two years.

The decision was taken during a meeting at the ‘People’s Convention Centre’ in Sector 36, Chandigarh. It was attended by 93 members of the Federation of Residents Welfare Associations. Mayor Anoop Gupta was the chief guest.

After the usual welcome by the General Secretary JS Gogia, GS Sathi addressed the members and requested that an Election Commission be constituted to elect the FOSWAC Chair for the next session. All the members present there unanimously extended Bittu’s term as chairman by two years. Moreover, they authorized Bittu to choose his team freely.

Speaking about the landfill in Dado Magra, Beto said that despite spending millions of public funds every year, the problem was getting worse every day instead of being solved. In the past 10 years, managers and consultants have come and gone but nothing has been achieved.

Bittu also talked about the water supply problem, the parking problem, and the road rut cleaning.
Col (Ret.) Gursiwak Singh, Chief of Sector 13 RWA said that due to the lack of street cleaning personnel and infrastructure, their district is lagging behind.

Addressing the members of the House of Representatives, Mayor Gupta promised to solve the landfill issue before January 2024.

He said work is underway for 24 x 7 water supply to the entire Chandigarh. The market parking problem will be solved soon once Fastag system is implemented.
Regarding the ward committees, Gupta said the appointment of the members is directly under the respective advisors.

Mayor Beto congratulated him on extending his term.
