Prime Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday cited record GST figures for April – Rs 1.87 lakh crore – as he suggested that the tax payment reflects rising incomes and employment levels across the country.

The prime minister was addressing a public gathering at Budili in Chota Udaipur district, which was held to mark the completion of nine years of Narendra Modi’s government at the centre.

“In the month of April, GST income of Rs 1.87 crore (a record) was historic. When will people pay the tax? When there will be work and employment.”

Others present on the occasion included Devusin Chauhan, Union Minister of State for Communications and Lok Sabha MP from Kheda constituency, along with local BJP, Confederation of Trade Unions and party office holders.

During his speech, the Prime Minister highlighted the development work and policies of Prime Minister Modi in the past nine years. Patel stressed that Modi started science schools in the tribal areas of Gujarat, enabling the tribesmen to become doctors and engineers.

Chauhan also delivered a speech on the occasion and highlighted the various achievements of the Modi government.
