Red Bull boss Christian Horner brushed off Toto Wolff’s post-race remarks in which the Mercedes boss said the Austrian team’s success “displeased” him. The Milton Keynes based team have been doing absolutely fantastic with the new regulations and are still one of the best machines on the grid, if not the best.
In all of this, though, Red Bull has been delivering one after another every weekend to Mercedes. So much so that Wolff, after the race in Barcelona, admitted that the competitor’s success angered him.
When the comments were relayed to Horner, he didn’t think much of them because he sarcastically said he didn’t pay much attention to them. The Red Bull boss also said that the team cares about winning and that’s all that matters. He told morsport.com:
“To be honest, I don’t pay much attention to it. I think what matters is the score sheet at the end of the day and that sounds healthy.”
The Red Bull team boss also revealed that the win was special because the team had come back from a seven-year drought.
“We’re very proud of him. It just means he’s so much more than that – we were there, then we were down, and then we fought again to be here again. Every member of the team played a crucial part in that performance, and F1 is one of the most Sports are competitive in the world, and for it to run at the level we are at is something to celebrate.”
The Red Bull boss feels Max Verstappen is developing at a rapid rate
Speaking of Max Verstappen, the Red Bull boss gave props to the driver as he praised his ability to continue to evolve and come back.
“We spent seven years trying to get back into a winning position, losing pain,” he said. “I think we worked really hard to get to that position. I think the whole team as a unit, it’s not just Max, it’s the whole team, (it’s) just working at such a high level that we have an exceptional car.”
he added:
“We have two great drivers and Max continues to develop as a driver. He’s become more and more polished, and the ability he has inside the car is really amazing.”
The team is hoping to keep winning this season, especially since the team continues to win every race this season.
