The Apartment Owners Association in Sector Phi 2 of Greater Noida has issued a request to all residents, urging them to consider their clothing when using common areas and park facilities.

According to a TOI report, the circular, issued by Himsagar Apartment AOA on June 10, specifically asked residents not to wear pajamas and pajamas outside their apartments. While some residents welcomed the circular, many criticized it for violating personal choices regarding clothing.

Speaking to TOI, AOA President CK Kalra explained that they did not intend to discriminate against them but had “simply asked” residents to follow directions after receiving several complaints from people wearing loose-fitting clothing while doing daily yoga at the complex.

“A few days ago, some women complained that an old man was doing yoga while wearing a lungi. At first, we asked people verbally. Later, the association decided to issue a circular.”

The post reads: “Residents are requested that whenever you walk around the community at any time, you should pay special attention to your behavior and dress so as not to give any opportunity to anyone to object to your behaviour. Your children also learn from you. Therefore, everyone is asked not to walk around in home dressed as Langie and Nighty.”

According to the TOI report, opinions within the RWAs are divided on the matter. Support the development of GB Nagar RWA district advocating for a dress code. NP Singh, President of the RWA, emphasized the need for decency in public. He stated that wearing loose and ill-fitting clothing such as a lungi or nighty in public places and parks is not appropriate.
