Nine people are feared dead, while several others were injured in a shooting incident late at night in Khamenlok district of Manipur. The affected area lies on the border between Kangbokpi and Imphal. Defense sources indicated that the number of casualties could rise.
The injured were shifted to RIIMS Hospitals and Raj Medicity. After the incident, curfew restrictions were further relaxed in Imphal. The new curfew timing is from 5 am to 9 am. Curfew timing applies to both Imphal District and Imphal West.
According to sources, miscreants from Uyumpok and Nunshung are continuing arson attempts in areas like Shantipur, Khopibung and Khamenlok.
The deaths in Khameluk came as a result of gunfights in the area.
On Wednesday morning, 10 to 12 JCBs demolished the burning houses in Sogno. The sources stated that additional forces were deployed in the regions to repel any kind of arson.
