Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappe has insisted players should start leaving the pitch when they encounter racism from fans. He believes that complaints are no longer enough and team members need to take an immediate stand.

Valencia fans racially assaulted Vinicius Jr during a La Liga match earlier this year, after which coach Carlo Ancelotti revealed he was about to ask the players out.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Mbappe stated that players should start leaving the field when teammates experience racial abuse. He thought the post-match complaints weren’t enough and said:

“We need to start leaving the field when racist incidents happen. Complaints are not enough. With Vinicius, it was great to see how the CBF stepped up to defend him.”

Mbappe has been linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer as he is set to enter the final 12 months of his PSG contract.

Vinicius Junior was not happy with the statement of La Liga president Javier Tebas after the racism incident in Valencia. The Brazilian called for action against the fans, but Tebas instead claimed he called the footballer for talks but received no response.

The Real Madrid star took to Twitter and stated that the president’s comments make him equally racist. chirp:

“Once again, instead of criticizing the racists, the president of La Liga has appeared on social media to attack me. No matter how much you talk and pretend not to read, your league profile has been shaken. Look at the responses to his posts and be in for a surprise… Deleting yourself makes you Just equalizing racists. I’m not your friend to talk to about racism. I want action and punishment. The hashtag doesn’t move me.”

ESPN reports that Vinicius Junior will consider leaving Real Madrid if things don’t change in the future. But for now, he is set to continue as a Los Blancos player.
