According to reports, Mayur Shinde is an NCP worker from Thane and is close to the Raut family. The police have arrested five suspects in the case so far

Mumbai Police on Thursday arrested a person named Mayur Shinde in connection with a case involving a threat against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut. He will appear before Mulund Court soon.

According to reports, Mayur Shinde is an NCP worker from Thane and is close to the Raut family. The police have arrested five suspects in the case so far. On Shinde’s instructions, the co-accused threatened Raut over a phone call.

In response to Mayur Shinde’s arrest in the case, BJP leader Prasad Lad demanded the arrest of Raut.

On 8 June, Sanjay Raut and NCP Chairman Sharad Pawar received death threats via phone calls from unknown persons.

In a surfaced audio recording, a man is heard issuing a death warning to Sanjay Raut’s brother Sanil Raut claiming he is going to shoot the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader.

The unknown caller threatened Raut that he must answer his calls or he would be shot. The caller also issued an ultimatum to Root to turn off his “morning speakers” within a month if he failed to “spray him with bullets”.

On 10 June, Mumbai police arrested two men from the eastern suburb of Govandi in connection with the case. according to PTI In the report, the two defendants, one of whom is an auto-rickshaw driver and the other an interior design worker, were arrested on Friday itself.

An official said the preliminary investigation revealed that the duo made the threatening calls with the Reut brothers under the influence of alcohol, adding that further investigations are underway.

The official said the police had registered a case against the accused under Section 506-II (Criminal Intimidation – Threat to Cause Death or Serious Harm) and other sections of the Indian Penal Code.
