According to Punjab Police, Mandeep Kaur and her husband Jaswinder Singh are the main suspects for the multi-crore robbery at the cash management company office in Ludhiana.

The prime suspects in the multi-crore robbery, a Ludhiana couple have been arrested by the Punjab Police due to a minor mistake by the accused. Known as ‘Daku Hasena’, Mandeep Kaur brewed a fruit-flavored drink near Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand, in handcuffs.

According to the Punjab Police, Mandeep Kaur and her husband Jaswinder Singh are the main accused of committing the multi-crore robbery at the office of a cash management company in Ludhiana. The armed robbers overpowered the guards at the CMS Services office and stole ₹8.49 crore in cash on June 10.

After the robbery, Mandeep and her husband Jaswinder went on a pilgrimage to the Sikh shrine of Hemkund Sahib at Chamoli in Uttarakhand apparently to be satisfied with a successful mission, Ludhiana Police Commissioner Mandip Singh Sidhu said.

Punjab Police received information that the couple was planning to elope to Nepal but before that, they were planning to visit various shrines, including Haridwar, Kedarnath and Hemkunt Sahib.

In order to catch the couple in the midst of a large number of devotees, the Punjab Police came up with the idea of offering free drinks service to the pilgrims near the shrine.

A free drinks stand was set up and packages of a fruit-flavored drink were offered to worshipers. The couple, completely unaware of the trap set for them, came to the booth, took their drink, revealed their faces and drank.

Once the couple revealed their faces to sip the drink, the police located them but made no move. The police waited for the couple to finish their prayers. As soon as they walked out of the temple, the police teams moved in to arrest them and the couple was arrested after a short chase.

So far, the police have arrested 9 out of the 12 accused in the case apart from the couple, including another suspect named Gaurav, who was arrested from Jidharbha in Punjab.

The couple’s capture was called “Let’s Catch the Queen Bee”. Ludhiana Police Commissioner Mandip Singh Sidhu said 12,000 rupees were recovered from Mandip’s two-wheeler, and 9 rupees from her husband Jaswinder’s house in Barnala.

According to the police, nearly Rs 6 crore has been recovered so far from the Rs 8 crore looting.
