Four men from Chennai have been arrested for allegedly selling glasses which they claimed would help the wearer see through clothes, in other words showing people naked. The gang, led by a 39-year-old businessman from Bengaluru, offered these glasses for sale for Rs 1 crore and targeted wealthy businessmen by taking them to a secret place for trial.

According to a report published Times of India, the accused were identified as R Surya from Bengaluru and his assistants Ghabibeeb (37), Jeethu Gyan (24) and S. Ershad (21) from Kerala. The police arrested the four men from a hotel in Kudambakkam.

the TOI A report said that the police arrested the men on the basis of a complaint from a dealer in Chennai, who was allegedly cheated by Surya of Rs 5 lakh on the promise of selling him antiques. When the man learns that Surya is in town, he goes to visit him to get his money back. Surya and his aides threatened him with a fake gun, after which the dealer filed a formal complaint. The four accused were brought before a judge and returned to judicial custody.

Police said the defendants unintentionally showed their customers videos showing how the glasses worked and then took them to a secret location to try them on. Police said the gang paid the models to pose naked in a darkened room where they conducted the trial.

Police further said that the gang members claimed they managed to sell three pairs of glasses, and that the leader, Surya, was in on another plan to sell a “rice tug” to businessmen that would bring them prosperity. The defendants claimed that the ship was made of copper and iridium, and the police added that it had special powers with regard to striking lightning. The police said that the men played on the superstitious beliefs espoused by businessmen.
