At a recent seminar organized by the Gujarat Environmental Commission to brainstorm nature education, an art group suggested that campsites for nature education camps be outside the reserves and that no permanent structures be constructed within these protected areas (PAs).

The group concluded that educational activities should leave no small impact on specific ecosystems for nature education. But some experts noted that the government is building permanent structures within protected areas to facilitate ecotourism and questioned whether the same standard should be used. In the end, the expert agreed with the government’s recommendation that it not create permanent structures and develop campsites outside protected areas.
