Manchester United legend Gary Neville has hailed Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar as a fantastic player but believes he will prove to be a disastrous signing for Newcastle United.
Neymar has recently been linked with a move to promoted Newcastle United in the Premier League. Famed journalist Dean Jones has claimed that some members of the club hierarchy would love the idea of Neymar playing for them, adding that they may try their luck this summer.
On his official podcast, Neville gave his opinion on the Brazilian’s potential move to Tyneside, stating that the move would turn Eddie Howe’s side into a circus.
“That would scare me to death, that signature kind of thing,” Neville said (via Metro).
“Neymar is an exciting player but Eddie Howe is going to have a kind of circus. Eddie Howe doesn’t need a circus here. You think about what Newcastle are like at this moment in time, they’re building, they’ve got foundations. What you don’t want to do is disrupt that, the fans You stand right behind the team.”
He completed:
“There’s a spiritual build, the atmosphere was charged in the first 10 minutes. They’re going to need to do this at some point and go to big name signings and be brave at some point and say let’s do it.”
“But if they’re 25 or 26-year-old for £100m, that kind of player could probably go elsewhere in Europe at the moment, so you could end up getting an offer of a 32-year-old who might think.” Eddie, okay, no. Eddie and Dan Ashworth are going to have to be strong on ownership.”
Neymar, 31, is enjoying a stellar career at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, winning the Champions League and four domestic titles, among other honors.
The Brazilian striker, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017 for a record amount of 222 million euros, sees his contract expiring in June 2025.

According to the French website RMC Sport, Paris Saint-Germain is interested in appointing Roma coach Jose Mourinho to replace Christophe Galtier. The French tactic failed to lead the Parisians beyond the last 16 in the Champions League this season and failed in the Coupe de France as well.
The PSG hierarchy is said to be unhappy with Galtier’s performance and would like to appoint a more experienced coach to succeed him. PSG manager Luis Campos is said to be personally in talks with Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes.

Mendes reportedly wants Mourinho to leave Roma for Paris, where the two-time Champions League winning coach (2004, 2010) will have a much bigger transfer cat to work with. It is also believed that the manager is interested in running Les Parisiens.
The former Real Madrid coach’s contract with Roma runs until June 2024.
