Swiss maestro Roger Federer expressed his happiness at meeting Venus and Serena Williams at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, May 7.

Pictures of the tennis legends together have gone viral on the internet after the race. Federer also met Juan Martin del Potro at Miami GP. The 20-time Grand Slam champion said it was the third time he attended the Formula 1 race, after Abu Dhabi in 2016 and Barcelona in 2022.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Federer mentioned that he has had more time for recreational activities since his retirement last year.

“It’s a pleasure to be back, having finally got some time to do things like this as well,” Federer said.

The Miami Open posted a picture of the three stars, who have 50 Grand Slam singles titles, on their social media page, describing them as the “kings of tennis”. Roger Federer shared the same photo via his Instagram story, expressing his excitement at meeting Venus and Serena Williams.

“Nice surprise,” he captioned the photo.

Twenty-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has admitted that the French Open without his great rival and friend, Rafael Nadal, would be “brutal”. He also expressed concern about Novak Djokovic, saying he hoped the Serb would be “strong” at Grand Slams as well.

“It would be tough, yeah. It would be tough for tennis if Rafa wasn’t there,” said the 41-year-old. “I still hope so. I saw he withdrew from Roma so I wish him the best. Obviously Novak also didn’t play much so I hope he’s strong too.”

Federer stated that he is excited about the tournament and will definitely watch it.

“And then, obviously, all the youngsters who are coming in will also. I’m going to be watching, that’s for sure,” he added.

Nadal has missed the 2023 ATP Tour since suffering a groin injury at the Australian Open. The King of Clay has not appeared in the European clay swing yet. He recently withdrew from the 2023 Italian Open as well, which called into question his participation in the 2023 Roland Garros tournament.

On the other hand, Djokovic has been suffering from an elbow injury since the 2023 Monte Carlo Masters, and he missed the Madrid Masters due to the same thing. However, the world number one is due to compete in Rome this week.
