Two children were seriously injured while playing in a playground near Dasharath Dev Sports Ground in Arundhatinagar district on the outskirts of Agartala city this afternoon. The infected children have been identified as Abhijit Sheil and Deep Das, both students of Kapraghtila Senior Secondary School in the eighth and sixth grades, respectively.

According to a senior official of the Tripura Police, the injured children were immediately shifted to Govind Palabh Pant Hospital (Sterling), where they were reported to be out of danger. Speaking to reporters, the official stated that the police recorded statements from the injured children and opened an investigation to ascertain the source of the bomb. He also revealed that it looked like an improvised bomb.

However, the official refused to reveal any information about the possible source and cause of the bomb being located near a major sports academy of the state. Meanwhile, Abhijit Shel, one of the injured children, revealed to reporters during the treatment period that they mistook the improvised bomb for a ball and started playing with it when it exploded in their hands.
